Customs We Love: A 70's Fantasy Zippo Collab

Customs We Love: A 70's Fantasy Zippo Collab

One of my favourite types of projects is custom engraving. I love hearing people's ideas, pulling together mood boards, and sketching concepts before committing them to metal.

For this collaboration with Iron Litany Printing, the brief was simple: "I want an evil spell-casting wizard. Think 1970s fantasy prints."

I pictured a long bearded wizard, ravaged by time and bad deeds, unleashing vicious bolts of lightning from his fingertips as he wreaks havoc on his enemies.

I chose a brushed matte brass Zippo so the bright cut engraving would really come to life in the hand. As the light catches the cut lines, it gives depth and movement to the lightning and flowing beard. His robes and hat were textured with a diamond-pointed hammer, creating a shimmering finish that makes the fabric look almost otherworldly.

A fun collab! Available from Iron Litany
