A medieval plate was the inspiration for these 14k yellow gold wedding bands.
A longtime client of mine tasked me with creating two new wedding bands for her and her husband’s anniversary. A rooted sprig of lavender wraps around the front of each band, with a secret path of stars tracing along the back, an amalgamation of heaven and earth made manifest through hand engraving.
Both rings share the same design, but contain unique characteristics in the way the leaves curve and wave, as though gently moved by the breeze. Hand drawn and cut, each one is different, just like its wearer, but together they form a pair, symbolising a union that transcends life and death.
Tucked away inside each band is the inscription “you & I are earth”, inspired by a medieval plate in the collection of the London Museum.
