A particularly fun recent project for a client looking to gift his friend a Mad Men-inspired lighter, based on the iconic war lighter from the episode The Doorway. The original bears the motto, "In life we often have to do things that just are not our bag."
To make it as authentic as possible, I hand engraved the text onto an aged brass Zippo lighter. The warm brass creates a beautiful contrast with the engraving and will continue to develop character as it naturally patinates through use.
The reverse was personalised with his friend's name, engraved in the same style as the original prop. A fitting gift for a die-hard Mad Men fan.
